Rankings remain still as comeback begins

The WTA rankings were kind enough for Sania as she maintained her 49th position when the latest rankings were issued today. Mirza has now not played in over 8 weeks as a knee injury has kept her on the sidelines.

Sania, has now started her comeback making a few appearances at the tennis complex in Hyderabad where she practises. She has returned to the court playing for short durations but nothing too intense. Lets just hope everything goes all well and the Indian tennis star can make a great comeback at the French open.

Sania Returns After Knee Injury

Sania Mirza has made a come back to practice after being forced to remain on the sidelines for over seven weeks with a knee injury. Sania played for only about 30 minutes at the Centre Court in the SAAP Tennis Complex.

South African trainer Heath Mathew has given Sania a strict schedule which she has to follow in an effort to make successful recovery to full match fitness.

Mirza plans to take part in the German open which begins on May 7 but if that doesn’t happen the contingency plan seems to be participating atleast in the Morocco Open which commences a week later. When asked about what she would to do, she said, “We will see how things develop over the next four to five days.”

Imran, her father also metioned that she should take one step at a time. “She looks rusty after the long break,” he said.

Sania Slips In WTA Rankings

Sania Mirza is facing a term on the side-lines and that is definitely not helping her in the WTA Rankings. The Indian tennis sensation has now slipped to the 48th position.

Sania has also taken a hit on the Women’s doubles ranking in which she dropped 7 places and now stands at 38th in list.
